La Manga Club Spain: Sun, Space, and Slow Holidays
Published 22 Jul, 2025
If you’re craving a summer break that blends peaceful mornings, outdoor activity, and a dose of Spanish sunshine, La Manga Club in the Murcia region is a solid choice. We’ve just returned from a relaxing stay, and I wanted to share some tips and highlights for anyone considering the area – especially if, like us, you’re not golfers.
Why We Chose La Manga Club

Best Beaches Near La Manga Club:
Calblanque National Park
A standout experience was visiting Calblanque National Park, a wild, protected stretch of coast just a short drive from the resort. The beaches there are untouched and stunning – no umbrellas, no cafés, just nature.
Insider tip: aim to arrive between 8am and 9am to park near the beach. After that, the road closes and you'll need to park at the entrance and catch a shuttle bus down. Either way, it’s worth the effort – just pack water, shade, and snacks.

Things to Do in La Manga Club (Besides Golf)
La Manga Club is known for its world-class golf courses, but even if you don’t play (we don’t), there’s plenty to keep you busy:
- Mini Golf – just outside the resort, ideal for families or a quick evening game.
- Kayaking & Snorkelling – this coast is known for calm waters and great visibility. You’ll find excursions nearby and equipment to hire.
- Cycling – a brilliant way to explore before the day heats up.
- Tennis, Padel, and Pickleball – some of the best courts we’ve come across, and a major draw of the resort.
- Nature Walks: Enjoy the beautiful surroundings without crowds.
La Manga Club is also a fantastic base for diving—Adventure Divers, a PADI and BSAC–accredited school right inside the resort, offers everything from introductory shore dives and Bubblemaker sessions for kids (from age 8) to advanced Open Water and rescue courses, plus exhilarating wreck and boat dives to the thriving marine reserve around the Islas Hormigas near Cabo de Palos. See here.
And if you're already certified, Scuba Murcia, a British-run PADI 5‑Star centre on the La Manga strip, runs daily boat dives to colorful reefs, shipwrecks, and even technical dives—including warm-water cave sites—for experienced divers. See here.
Whether you're trying your first dive or looking to log deep adventures, both schools offer small-group guidance, multilingual instruction, and expert local knowledge—underwater exploration here is easily one of the best in the Mediterranean.
Food & Local Finds
We kept food simple and relaxed. Some tips:
- Churros in the morning are a must – dipped in chocolate and eaten on a sunny terrace.
- Paella is reliably good – especially rabbit and chicken if you want the traditional version.
- The local supermarkets are well-stocked and affordable – great if you’re self-catering or just want to pick up some good bread, fruit, and snacks.

Final Thoughts: Is La Manga Club Worth It?
La Manga Club gave us the space and pace we needed. With roomy apartments, peaceful surroundings, and plenty to do – even for non-golfers – it was exactly the kind of break we needed. If you’re after a quieter base with great facilities and a natural setting, it’s a strong contender.
La Manga Club:
Essentials for UK Travellers
- Murcia International (RMU) is just 35 min away; Alicante Airport about 1h 10min.
- The resort can help arrange private taxi transfers or you can pre-book through services like Shuttle Direct.
- We stayed in a spacious 4‑bedroom apartment with a private pool, usually around €200–€300 per night. Excellent value considering access to high-quality tennis, padel, and pickleball facilities.
